Imam Ali (AS) and Hamza in the Pre-Battle Single Combat Against the Polytheists at Badr

The Mubāraza (Single Combat) at the Battle of Badr:
At Badr, the first major battle in Islamic history, before the armies began fighting at full capacity, a “mubāraza” (mutual challenge) took place in accordance with the custom of the time.

The Challenge: Utbah ibn Rabīʿah, his brother Shaybah, and his son Walīd from the Quraysh army stepped forward and demanded opponents.

The Heroes of Islam: Although some young men from the Ansār of Medina stepped forward, the Quraysh said, “We want our equals from among our own kinsmen,” so the Prophet (PBUH) appointed the following names:
-Hamza (RA), the uncle of the Prophet
-Ali (AS), the cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet
-Ubaydah ibn al-Hārith (RA), a relative of the Prophet

Outcome:
-Hamza (RA) swiftly defeated his opponent Utbah.
-Ali (AS) quickly overpowered Walīd.
-Ubaydah (RA) and his opponent Shaybah wounded each other, but Ali (AS) and Hamza (RA) immediately rushed to help, eliminating Shaybah and carrying Ubaydah back.
