This scene depicts one of the most sorrowful and spiritually profound moments in Islamic history—the final gathering of the Prophet (PBUH) with his nearest and dearest, his Ahl al-Bayt, as he bids farewell to worldly life.

Tenderness and Sorrow: In his final moments, the Prophet (PBUH) called his daughter Fatimah (AS) to his side and once again showed his special love for her. To ease her grief, he gave her the glad tidings that she would be the leader of the women of Paradise.

Farewell to His Grandsons: Hasan (AS) and Husayn (AS) were still young children at the time. According to narrations, when they threw themselves upon their grandfather weeping, the Prophet (PBUH) caressed them, kissed them, and enjoined those around him to treat them kindly and look after them. His renowned love for them, describing them as “the masters of the youth of Paradise,” continued even in these final moments.

Bequest and Trust: This scene is not merely the farewell of a biological family; it is the presentation to the Ummah of the Ahl al-Bayt, one of the two weighty things (along with the Quran) that the Prophet (PBUH) left behind for his community.

Spiritual Legacy: The composure the Prophet (PBUH) displayed even in these difficult moments, and the tenderness he showed towards his loved ones, are regarded as the greatest example of patience and love for Muslims.

In Islamic tradition, and particularly in Sufi and sīrah narratives, this moment carries a deep significance as the final touch and farewell of the light of Prophethood to the blessed lineage that would follow him and to the spiritual leaders of Islam.
